KVNO: Omaha Symphony performs Chopin & Swan Lake
Omaha, NE—Omaha Symphony will present a Masterworks concert tonight, opening Chopin and Swan Lake. Audiences can enjoy Tchaikovsky’s music from the famous ballet as well as Shostakovitch’s “Ninth Symphony” and music by Chopin, performed by guest solo pianist Charlie Albright, who the Washington Post called, “Among the most gifted musicians of his generation.”
This is Albright’s second time performing with the Omaha Symphony, and while Chopin, Shostakovitch, and Tchaikovsky might not have been contemporaries, their pieces complement one another for the evening.
Chopin’s Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise Brilliante, especially with the accompaniment of the symphony orchestra, offer a dynamic and richly narrative experience.
The Omaha Symphony and pianist Charlie Albright will perform Chopin and Swan Lake at 7:30pm tonight, October 17 and tomorrow the 18th. For more information or tickets, visit OmahaSymphony.org.
