Sounds of the City is a celebration of Omaha’s unique sounds in the heart of downtown. This free outdoor concert, presented by The RiverFront, will feature the Omaha Symphony at the Gene Leahy Mall Performance Pavilion along with a multitude of community partners, artists, and organizations from all over the city. Joining the orchestra on stage are musicians and dancers from Culxr House, Kokyo Taiko, Nebraska Chinese Association, NOMA, and the Heartland Youth Ballet.
From movie music to traditional Chinese folk songs to a premiere of Anthony Barfield's hip-hop-infused Symphony 808, this concert will showcase music you know and new sounds you won't forget.
Maestro Ernest Richardson will conduct this concert as part of the Omaha Symphony’s Forte Initiative, which aims to amplify the strengths of our community through collaboration, representation of our Omaha neighbors onstage, and ensured access to the Symphony’s music. This Friday night performance opens the One Community Cultural Festival, which is in its fourth year of highlighting various cultures through a free weekend-long celebration At The RiverFront.
